Wide-leg jeans come to us in three families: 70s flares in heavy rigid denim, 90s baggy and straight cuts, and the low-rise Y2K bootcuts that are having a second life. Denim is honest, so we tell you what we find: the wash, the weight, worn hems, replaced buttons and any repairs. Every pair is listed with the waist and inseam measured flat, as W and L in inches, because vintage denim shrinks over decades and the label number is rarely still true. Rise is measured too, since a Y2K low-rise sits four inches lower than a 70s high waist. There is one of each. If you want a slimmer line, see straight jeans and skinny jeans; for the waist that sits at the waist, high-waisted jeans.
