John Lewis knitwear measured by hand: 5 pieces (1 in stock), UK 8–10, from £31.50, one of each.
John Lewis has been on Oxford Street since 1864 and its own-label clothing, especially the cashmere, has long been the sensible buy: pure cashmere jumpers at a fair price, properly labelled with fibre content and care. Labels reading John Lewis & Partners date from the 2018 rename; plain John Lewis labels are earlier.
Is John Lewis sizing true? Yes, true UK sizes, cut classic rather than fitted. We list pit-to-pit and length on every knit.
How do you check John Lewis cashmere? Composition label, hand feel, pilling under the arms and any thinning at the elbows, all shown in the photos. Colour-block and striped pieces get an extra shot of the seams.

Does John Lewis run small or true to size? On the one John Lewis piece labelled UK 10 that we measured, the bust was 33″ round (the UK standard for that label is about 35″). That is smaller than the UK standard for the label, so size up if you are between sizes.
“Our UK estimate” is the size on each piece's own listing, tried on our model (5′6″, UK 8). Jeans sit on the hips, so a waistband measures more than the natural waist it is made for: about 3″ more on a low rise, 2″ on a mid rise, 1″ on a high rise, the same rule Will it fit? uses. Shorts are left out of the inseam column.
