ASOS launched in London in 2000 as AsSeenOnScreen, selling copies of what celebrities wore on television, and became the biggest online-only fashion retailer in Britain within a decade. The own label, later called ASOS Design, plus the Tall, Petite and Curve ranges, is what turns up second-hand.
Is ASOS sizing true to UK? Generally yes, and the Tall range adds about two inches to lengths. Knits and going-out tops from the early 2010s are cut close, so we list bust, waist and length rather than trusting the label.
Why buy ASOS pre-owned? The early 2010s metallic knits, mesh corsets and bodycon dresses are now bought as Y2K-adjacent pieces, and the price second-hand is a fraction of new. Our Y2K guide explains how to wear them without the costume feel.

In stock and sold, in inches. The Pieces column says how many pieces each line rests on.
| Label | Pieces | Bust, round | UK standard | Length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UK 8 | 1 | 29″ | 33″ | 16″ |
| UK 10 | 2 | 24–30″ | 35″ | 14–51″ |
Does ASOS run small or true to size? On the 2 ASOS pieces labelled UK 10 that we measured, the bust was 24–30″ round (the UK standard for that label is about 35″). That is smaller than the UK standard for the label, so size up if you are between sizes.
“Our UK estimate” is the size on each piece's own listing, tried on our model (5′6″, UK 8). Jeans sit on the hips, so a waistband measures more than the natural waist it is made for: about 3″ more on a low rise, 2″ on a mid rise, 1″ on a high rise, the same rule Will it fit? uses. Shorts are left out of the inseam column.
