Karen Millen and Kevin Stanford started selling white shirts in Kent in 1981 and built the most structured label on the British high street: corsetry seams, sharp tailoring, silk in strong prints. The shops closed in 2019 and the brand went online under Boohoo, so a woven-label Karen Millen dress with a proper lining is from the earlier years.
